Ducati 748S 2000 History I bought the bike in 2002 to replace the last project bike a Honda RC51. We really wanted the smaller engined bike rather than the 916 / 996 as it is much more free reving. It has many modifications including: This work was done at the Ducati Dealer Ducati 853 Big Bore Kit FIM Chip and Special Map Race Air Filter Termignoni Carbon Race Exhaust Total $3817 All the work below was done using parts from Superbikestore.com Ohlins Rear Shock $650 Ohlins Steering damper $425 Infostrada Ducati sticker kit $140 Harris Carbon Heel plates $ 90 Harris Billet Aluminum Rearsets Anodized Black $425 Ducati Corse Exhaust Guard $ 55 Evo Licence Plate bracket $ 55 Wave Brake Rotors $620 Ducati Corse Carbon key Guard $ 45 QB Carbon Vented Front fender $300 QB Carbon Rear Hugger $300 Carbon Tank Guard $ 40 Clear rear light lens $ 75 Dunlop 208 GP tires and spare wheels $750 Powerbronze Airflow Screen $ 75 My Cron Lap Timer $240 Total $4285 Total Invested $8102 Other changes Gearing reduced for better acceleration Front Forks have been re-valved and have stronger springs. Bike is set up for the track – increased rear ride height and lowered front. The bike has had approx $8000 invested excluding the cost of the bike, about half of this was the engine work and the exhausts. It is used as it was intended and has no expense spared to maintain it. These are the Ferrari of the bike world and are not cheap bikes to own. The bike is handles like it is on rails and steers by thinking rather than effort – it is a joy to ride at the track. I also get a big kick out of it keeping the license plate at track days, especially when passing the odd race bike!! The bike makes getting your knee down effortless. Sad news is the bike has to be sold to make way for new projects.
